It was offered in two versions, two-door coupe and two-door roadster with soft top convertible. The first model made its debut performance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 and marketed starting from 2010. A year later, the roadster version was revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show and began to sell in autumn of 2011.

This time, we will review the convertible car named The SLS AMG Roadster with three-layered - in magnesium, steel, and aluminum construction - reversible roof top that is made from fabric. It can be raised and lowered within 11 seconds by pressing the button and can be performed when you drive the car up to 31 mph (50 km/h), changing your open top car into an elegant coupe. With this feature, the design of the car looks more excellent than the regular coupe version.
The fancy design of this roadster is beautified by the excellent white LED Daytime Running Lamps which are durable and consume low energy, also the LED rear lights that look very fashionable with horizontal motif and dark-tinted lenses. Your visibility is also supported by the high-tech Bi-Xenon headlamps with high-pressure washer that keeps it to perform well in bad weathers. When you are about to enter the blind spot, the light-red triangle symbol will be appeared on the side mirror to warn you while you’re driving the car in approximately 20 mph. To make you easier in controlling the car, the rear view camera is also equipped to the body.

The high-definition screen and a central controller on the console along with the COMAND® (Cockpit Management and Data) system makes the control of entertainment features, hands-free call, and navigation system easy to access. Some controls are also attached to the ergonomic steering wheel.

Performance? Don’t feel hesitate. The handcrafted 6.3 L naturally aspirated V8 engine boosting the excellent power at 583 hp @ 6,800 rpm of and 479 lb-ft or torque @ 4,750 rpm with acceleration from 0 to 60 in only 3.6 seconds and 197 mph maximum speed!
After knowing those incredible features, you must be curious about the price tag. Starting from about $220,000 up to $300,000 price, it’s quite reasonable to get this car. The Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren Roadster is a fair comparison to this car, it’s priced at $220,000 until $545,000 with 5.4 L (5.439 L; 331.9 cu in) supercharged V8 engine that develops 626 PS (460 kW; 617 hp) @ 6,500 rpm and 80 N•m (580 lb•ft) @ 3,250 - 5,000 rpm maximum torque. The acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) is 3.8 seconds with maximum speed is about 208 mph, and for the 722 S version reach 62 mph in 3.6 seconds.
The AMG Roadster is more powerful actually, and McLaren is priced a little bit higher due to its rarity production especially for 722 version that built only 150 units and it also has the gullwing door. The choice is yours. Newer Post Older Post
